Bacon + Keto = Happiness
Bacon, Bacon, Bacon!
Bacon has been the best thing about Keto so far! In the past I had to steer away from Bacon due to sodium restrictions. Now that I am doing Keto my need to even take a Lasik pill has drastically decreased! If that isn’t a win-win situation, I don’t know what is! So far I love the Keto diet. I get to eat yummy fats and meats. If you’re like me, that is defiantly a plus.
Not everything is perfect
I have noticed a few things about the Ketogenic diet that might become an issue in the future but time will tell. I have experienced that, it is extremely hard to fall asleep. While it’s great to have the extra energy, sleep is so important. I have decided to go back to taking my Magnesium and Melatonin again. That should help. The financial cost is a bit more than I’m used to, however it will be well worth it if my health improves. The last thing I will mention is that I do crave some carbs; I’m told this should pass. I hope so, those damn Dunkin Donuts commercials.
So far my diet has included eggs, bacon, coconut oil, fish, butter and avocados. I have kept it very simple. I still watch my calories in vs. calories out. That is just fact, if you take in more than you use it’s just going to be extra weight. I know you can have coffee but without my sugar filled French vanilla I’ll just stick with water LOL. I plan on trying some recipes for Keto Cloud bread to see if that will satisfy my carb cravings. I’ll keep you posted. If it ends up being good I’ll make sure to post the recipe.
Mood has been great!
My mood has really been Positive the past few days. Can I give Keto credit? I’m not sure. It’s a good sign that even having those carb cravings my mood has stayed in a positive direction. Now that I have found my positive vibration I really don’t want to jeopardize it any way. I thought maybe the decrease in hours of sleep I have gotten, might slightly affect my mood but it hasn’t. I am defiantly grateful for that.
My Exercise Routine
I haven’t had to change it as of yet. I still lift four times per week and do some sort of Cardio at least once a day. I will go lighter on days I lift. I would like to see my strength increase a bit more. I know I will never be as strong as I was in my 20’s but that doesn’t mean I can’t come close. Where’s that old man strength I hear about LOL? I will be adding in some Yoga as well, I would like to become more flexible, especially with a history of back surgery.
Overall thoughts on Keto
While my journey with Keto has just started, I believe it’s on a great track. Will I keep this lifestyle up forever? I really don’t know. I would like to give it at least three months and see where I’m at physically and emotionally. When we first start something it’s easy to say things like; I will do this forever it’s so easy, but as we all know as time goes we find out new information that can change our thought patterns on everything. I would rather leave it open ended and enjoy the experience and see where it leads. Did I mention I get to eat Bacon!
